In the UK, marine insurance is manadatory for ship owners and corporations.

It’s not a legal requirement for boat owners, but it is highly recommended to protect your boat and yourself. Certain marinas and most inland waterways insist that boat owners have at least some form of boat insurance and it’s generally seen as good practice to provide boat insurance details if requested.

The various types of marine insurance policies include:

  • Hull insurance – covers the loss or deterioration of a vessel’s hull and machinery
  • Cargo insurance – covers the loss or damage of a ship’s cargo
  • Liability insurance – covers damage or harm to third parties

It couldn’t be easier: use the claims section of our website and follow the instructions there. If you have any questions, just get in touch with us directly and we’ll be happy to talk you through it.

Our enquiry form asks for some contact details so that we can send you your quote; your marine trade or business type and activities; year of establishment; what cover you need; and the date you want your cover to start.

Get in touch by email or phone and we will make the requested changes to your marine trade insurance policy.

No: you should use your usual service providers. As needed we will appoint a marine surveyor to inspect and report on the incident, and we will ask them to arrange this with you.
